On August 20-21, the second academic conference of "Development and Utilization of Biological Resources in the Central and Western Regions" was held in Dali University. The School of Pharmacy, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dali University jointly carried out academic exchanges and discussions on the latest trend of natural pharmaceutical research and the development, utilization and protection of biological resources in the central and western regions.
At the meeting, Ding Zhongtao, president of Dali University, said that Dali University was committed to the development of characteristic medicinal plants in western Yunnan, built a biomedical discipline group to support Yunnan's bio medicine industry, and took advantage of Yunnan's rich natural drug resources to form an advantageous feature in the research and development of insect medicine, plant medicine, and ethnic medicine. Puno Baimadanzhen, deputy director of Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that to carry out research on biological resources in southwest China, we should devote ourselves to the understanding, utilization and protection of plant resources in the region, and focus on the major needs of ecological civilization and people's life and health. Qin Rui, president of the Institute of Scientific Research and Development of our university, said that the southwest region is rich in biological resources. Yunnan has the reputation of "plant kingdom" and "animal kingdom". It is a place that researchers look forward to in the development and utilization of biological resources. Our university will further deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Kunming Institute of Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dali University, and form a number of research platforms and research achievements with important influence in the development and utilization of biological resources in the central and western regions.
During the meeting, Liu Jikai, Wang Xian, Li Xinyang, Puno Baima Danzeng, Geng Chang'an, Jiang Shiyou, Xiao Guozhi of Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiang Bei, Xiao Huai, Wang Jiapeng of Dali University, Zhang Ling, associate editor of NPB and other experts and scholars made academic reports on the development and utilization of biological resources in the central and western regions. Among them, Professor Liu Jikai made a special report on the development status and future prospects of anti-aging beauty and mass health industry. The report points out that with the development of society, people pay more and more attention to beauty and health and anti-aging. At present, significant progress has been made in the exploration of new targets for anti-aging drugs. The research and development of anti-aging drugs based on biological gerontology research will bring broad market prospects to the medical care and pharmaceutical industries. Professor Wang Xian made a special report on the screening of gastrointestinal disease markers based on intestinal flora and host metabolism and the mechanism of action of flavonoid glycosides. In recent years, she has developed a wide range of targeted and quantitative metabonomic analysis technologies by building mass spectrometry based metabonomic methods, screened and detected characteristic metabolic markers of clinical gastrointestinal diseases, and provided a theoretical basis for finding new targets for early diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
Participants conducted in-depth discussion and exchange on the academic report. Professor Liu Jikai summarized the meeting and commented on the expert report, which resonated with the experts present.
